It's been a couple of years since ZAZA released its blistering debut EP Cameo. Now comes a new track and a new sound. The thundering drums have been replaced by a more electronic sound. Maybe this is a grower.
Mixing the heady sounds of 60's psychedelia and vintage Krautrock, Life in Mono keeps that motorik pulse of driving The Autobaun. OK it's not exactly Kraftwerk but this is a fun little album.
Every year hundreds of releases fall through the cracks. This feels like one of them and it's really a shame. A very early 90's almost Manchester sound. Listen and name your price on their bandcamp page.
San Francisco's Young Prisms create a sound not unlike early JAMC with swirling guitars and pretty melodies. Who around here is not a sucker for that. I'm sold on this one. The Album Friends For Now is out now on Kanine. (MP3 via Pitchfork)
The Raveonettes seem to be cranking out the albums every year now. Which is fine when it's the quality of "Forget That You're Young", the first "single?" from Raven In The Grave. The duo are calling the new album "the perfect winter soundtrack". (via tympanogram.com)
This is fun for some serious beats and 80's synth nostalgia. Kind of a Blade Runner meets Chillwave thing going on here. Hear more artists getting the Com Truise treatment here.
I can't get enough of this 4-track EP from former members of Austin's Sleep∞Over. Lazy day dreampop from a new project called Boy Friend. Download from their bandcamp page and bliss-out.
Earlier this week Radiohead issued their surprise attack on music fans with the announcement of a new album this Saturday. Well that has been pushed up a day. Also check out the video for "Lotus Flower" ,the first emphasis track from The King of Limbs.
