Listen to Moby's New Album Destroyed

Our favorite techno vegan is back with a new album called Destroyed.  Believe it or not it's been 12 years since Play changed Moby's life forever and turned the underground techno artist into a mega superstar.  Moby's pushing a slightly quieter sound these days but Destroyed still has an array of moody sounds to enjoy.

Listen to Destroyed here.

Panda Bear's Tomboy Getting Closer

The highly anticipated Panda Bear release Tomboy shifted to even further hysteria with the NPR stream of the new album. I'm liking it so far.  It churns at a fairly slow pace, but hey, what did you expect?

Check out the album track "Late Night At The Jetty" via Pretty Goes With Pretty.

Classic Saturday Track!!!

"It was 20 years ago today...". OK probably not quite.  Total Reverb is starting a new Weekly Saturday feature post highlighting tracks that have hit the 2 decade mark.  Some of these gems are gonna sound staticy vinyl fresh, while others well not so much.  Let's kick things off with The Apples.  Who?  Yeah I barely know.  Check out this early 90's baggy inspired track called "Eye Wonder".  And for further reading on "Eye Wonder", check out this great little write up from Left and to the Back.

Listen to The Flaming Lips / Neon Indian collaboration

Sometimes when relevant "indie-rockers" get together and do a lot of drugs, great things can happen.   Disco Naïveté has posted the results of the Flaming Lips / Neon Indian pairing with the slow drudging sounds of "Is David Bowie Dying?"

Listen to this insanity here.

Letterman loves "talented" dream-poppers.

The Pains of Being Pure At Heart stopped by Letterman last night to promote their new album Belong, out on Slumberland next week.  And they breezed through the new single "Heart in your Heartbreak".  Hopefully Dave was able to keep that sweet new vinyl and go home and bliss out for the evening.

The Sunday Reeds new EP - Dark Rainbows

Feedback intensive and full of confident pop hook swagger, The Sunday Reeds release their new EP Dark Rainbows.  The Australian duo don't exactly go out of their way to hide their Jesus and Mary Chain fetish.  And I say fine and dandy.

Stream the track "Shiver Up My Vein" at ReverbNation.

The Cure Disintegration reissue

I've been on a huge Disintegration kick the last 2 days.  It's amazing just how incredible The Cure's magnum opus still sounds 22 years later.  Stream the Live at Dallas Starplex show here.

Caribou - Stem (The Altrice Remixes)

Dan Snaith's Caribou project has been on a roll since last years Swim.  Which incidentally landed at No. 2 on Total Reverb's Albums of 2010.  Now comes Stem, created by "Sun" remix winner Altrice.  Remix albums are hit and miss but this is a complete reimagination of Swim.  Tracks have been retitled as well giving it that extra sprinkle of artistic creativily.  Nice touch.

Stream now for free at Soundcloud.

Brothertiger - Point of View EP

Brothertiger is all about creating those climactic synth sounds that dominated 80's flicks like Sixteen Candles, etc.  It's like no time has passed between 1984 and the present.    He's got a new EP coming called Point of View on Collective Crowd Records.

Audio via Kick The Tragedy.

Puro Instinct "Stilyagi"

It's sexy. It's dreamy.  It's everything a great spring album should be.  Puro Instinct, formerly Pearl Harbor have created somewhat of a dreampop masterpiece with Headbangers In Ecstasy. The album harkens back to classic 80's indie sounds and with the omission of the unnecessary radio liner fillers, there's not a miss on this thing.
Audio via Relentless Noisemaker.

Moby Be The One EP

It seems Moby has been keeping a low profile lately.  But that's about to change on May 17th when Mute Records drops Destroyed, an album Moby describes as "broken down melodic electronic music for empty cities at 2 am".  OK sounds intriguing.

Need new Moby now?  Get his new Be The One EP for free at moby.com.

New track from ZAZA - "Distance Creator"

It's been a couple of years since ZAZA released its blistering debut EP Cameo.  Now comes a new track and a new sound.  The thundering drums have been replaced by a more electronic sound.  Maybe this is a grower.

Music For Headphones - Life In Mono

Mixing the heady sounds of 60's psychedelia and vintage Krautrock, Life in Mono keeps that motorik pulse of driving The Autobaun.  OK it's not exactly Kraftwerk but this is a fun little album.

Listen on their bandcamp page.

Heavy Ghost - Ten Thousand Years EP

Every year hundreds of releases fall through the cracks.  This feels like one of them and it's really a shame.  A very early 90's almost Manchester sound.  Listen and name your price on their bandcamp page.

Ten Thousand Years Cover Art

Young Prisms and their dreamy fuzz

San Francisco's Young Prisms create a sound not unlike early JAMC with swirling guitars and pretty melodies.  Who around here is not a sucker for that.  I'm sold on this one. The Album Friends For Now is out now on Kanine. (MP3 via Pitchfork)

The Raveonettes new song "Forget That You're Young"

The Raveonettes seem to be cranking out the albums every year now.  Which is fine when it's the quality of "Forget That You're Young", the first "single?" from Raven In The Grave.  The duo are calling the new album "the perfect winter soundtrack". (via tympanogram.com)

This is fun for some serious beats and 80's synth nostalgia.  Kind of a Blade Runner meets Chillwave thing going on here.  Hear more artists getting the Com Truise treatment here.

Asobi Seksu's new album Fluorescence
is actually very radio friendly.
Need to give this a few more spins.
